Adding a Sunroom

As spring finally approaches, the weather’s turning warmer and warmer and the sun’s beginning to shine more. Why not take advantage of the beautiful weather and sunny skies and make a sunroom addition part of this spring’s home improvement plans?

Not only are sunrooms a beautiful addition to your home, they’re also useful. Here are just three ways to use your new sunroom:

  • Breakfast Room: Imagine waking up in the morning and walking into a room filled with light to start your day. With a sunroom, bringing the outside in is easy—and it makes an excellent start to the day. Ask your home builder about making sure your sunroom is insulated, so you can enjoy it in the winter as well as the summer.
  • Gardening Room: Many herbs, veggies, and flowers can easily be grown in a sunroom. If you’re having an unusually long winter, try jumpstarting your summer garden by starting your tomatoes, peppers, and beans indoors. In fact, many people choose to keep gardens in their sunroom additions year-round. Especially if your sunroom faces south, you’ll have success growing cherry tomatoes, garden beans, sweet peppers, and even lettuce. If growing vegetables sounds too intimidating, try an herb garden—basil, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram will all do well in your new sunroom.
  • Sitting Room: If you’re looking for a place to entertain guests or just relax after a long day of work, the atmosphere of a sunroom is perfect. You can even ask your home builder to add a French door installation, so you can combine your sunroom and deck when the weather’s nice to create a large space for entertaining.
